Alexander Varkatzas was born on January 17th, 1982, in Orange County, California, where he still resides. He is the lead
vocalist for Atreyu. He is half Greek and his real first name is "Ektor" which is a family name [from Homer's Iliad, it means
'the holder'. There is a breathing mark over the 'e' so it is pronounced as Hector.] He has a large number of tattoos, many
of which are based on Japanese and horror movie imagery. He only lives a couple of blocks away from M. Shadows of Avenged
Sevenfold. He is a health and fitness fanatic, and does not drink alcohol, even though he used to be a bit of an alcoholic.
His appearance has changed a lot since 'Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses' and 'The Curse', since he has slimmed down a lot
since that time. Most of the songs on 'A Death-Grip on Yesterday' were about his struggles while quitting his alcoholism.
